Mellie Mae Lonnemann is an artist and educator. She began her ceramic pursuit in Faenza, Italy at the Ballardini State Institute of Art where she studied for two years and apprenticed with Giovanni Cimatti. After Italy, she moved to NY to complete her BFA at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University with a concentration in ceramics and a minor in dance. She moved to Korea for a year to teach and worked at Tozang studio with Mr. Jaemin and Sooda. She then continued to follow her love for making to the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina where she completed a two year Resident Artist Program at Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts (ClayWorks). After her residency at the Odyssey she began to teach art in the community and became a member of Foundation Clay which quickly led her to become a member of the Clay Space Cooperative in the River Arts District. She has recently moved to New York to teach and continue her creative journey of making through exploration in form and memory.
